48 years ago today, my paternal grandmother, Alberta Williams King (to my father’s right), was shot & killed while she sat at the organ in Ebenezer Baptist Church.

I’ve experienced too much tragedy to give up now.

We can build a more just, equitable, humane & peaceful world.

Dear Daddy: Thank you for living with purpose and for lifting the power of love. Thank you for believing that we can defeat injustice without destroying each other. Since her departure, it seems like I am looking more and more like my mother. When she left me 16 years ago today, she left me with an assignment to not just continue my father, MLK's Legacy, but to establish her Legacy. Great things to come... Coretta Scott King is the Architect of The King Legacy. She built the largest Global Social Change Brand in the World. Fifty Four years after my father's assassination, the World is still looking to, learning from and utilizing his teachings. Because of Mrs. Coretta Scott King, we know more than “I Have A Dream.“ She taught us more about Nonviolence as the pathway to the Beloved Community. Today we remember one of the crowning achievements of my father's nonviolent leadership, the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. It was a monumental. And yet today it is under constant threat. We must remain relentless and steadfast to ensure it remains intact and integral in our quest to created genuine equality by uprooting #whitesupremacy and eradicating racism
