In the presence of President Emmanuel Macron, yesterday marked a major milestone in the modernization of our Manufacturing & Supply network, with the official inauguration of Sanofi’s new Modulus facility at our site in Neuville-sur-Saône, France. Modulus represents a revolutionary approach to the manufacture of our next generation #Vaccines and #BioPharmaceuticals, to deliver on the promise of Sanofi’s innovative pipeline and the currently unmet needs of patients worldwide.

This cutting-edge facility is a game-changer in Sanofi’s journey to becoming the global leader in immunology, providing the agility to manufacture across multiple vaccine and biologic modalities simultaneously, including Viral, #mRNA and recombinant proteins.
This new design concept, entirely conceived by Sanofi's Manufacturing and Supply teams, is an industry first innovation. Fully digital and powered by AI, it will enable new levels of agility, facilitating rapid change-over between products and platforms through it’s unique Plug-and-Produce design, enabling rapid response to changing product demands, including global health needs. It will also deliver the highest levels of #sustainability, supported by 100% renewable energy and lowest possible carbon footprint.

But this next-generation facility isn’t just about innovation — it's all about People. Our incredible design teams, construction partners and Sanofi employees who will bring this vision to life for the benefit of the patients we serve.

On this special day for Neuville, I could not be prouder of our Manufacturing & Supply teams here and in our sites all over the world, who are shaping the future of healthcare by bringing breakthrough medicines and vaccines to the world, to help prevent or change the course of chronic and infectious disease and improve the lives of millions of people.

Proud to announce a 120 million euros investment in our state-of-the-art Biologics manufacturing facility in Geel - Belgium, a plant specialized in the production of complex biologics therapies for a range of immunological and rare disease conditions.

This investment will further scale-up the site’s Technology Transfer, Product Launch and Digital Manufacturing capacities and capabilities, to support future launches from our emerging pipeline of Immunology and Rare Disease molecules. The project provides for the addition of a new, large scale, Drug Substance manufacturing unit, building on the strong capabilities that have been established on the site over the last ~20 years of Biotech production.

This investment is a credit to the talented women and men at Sanofi in Geel who work passionately every day to manufacture and supply a range of therapeutic proteins for the treatment of immune disease related conditions, as well as an enzyme replacement therapy for a rare and potentially life-threatening muscle disease.

And, as we advance on delivering our purpose to “chase the miracles of science”, we’re also going full speed on our digital transformation, increasingly leveraging digital technology and the power of data to unlock our full potential to deliver advanced biologics therapies that enable patients live better and longer lives.

This new chapter in Geel will also greatly contribute to our commitment to sustain our planet. In Geel, as in all our locations around the world, our teams are #AlwaysOn and committed to working on ecological solutions such as water reuse, energy reduction and green initiatives to help deliver Sanofi's ambition to be carbon neutral by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050, creating a healthier future for the generations to come.
