//HOW TEAMWORK SHOULD  REALLY LOOK LIKE...

We all know that most “teamwork“ ends like in this video at second 10.

Have you ever helped someone on your team, only to have them disappear without a trace afterwards?

It can be frustrating when people don't make an effort to return the favor.

After all, teamwork should be a two-way street.

So why is it so difficult for some team members to reach out and give back to those who have helped them?

Let's start a discussion - have you experienced this before?

How do you handle it?

Asking for a friend ;)

//81-YEAR-OLDS SURPRISED WITH RIDE IN SELF-DRIVING CAR

This reminds me of our first public presentation of self-driving cars together with Volkswagen and Olaf Scholz in Hamburg back in 2016!!!

After the show was done and all people already left, an elderly man came up to me and asked me:

Does this mean I can soon drive a car again?

Interesting thought.

Very interesting thought.

I guess he was right.

Yes, this could mean it.

//MICROPLASTICS INNOVATION đŸ”„

A young inventor has come up with a solution to remove microplastics from waterways by using magnets.

This could help to eradicate the trillions of microplastics that are floating in our oceans.

Finn Pereira, who grew up near the Irish coast, was inspired to find a zero waste solution to plastic pollution after noticing the seriousness of the problem in the sea.

He developed his idea throughout his university studies.

The solution involves pouring an oily magnetic liquid into the water, which draws out microplastics trapped within it.

This method can remove more than 85% of microplastics from an area in a single pass.

Moreover, the chemical-free formula does not harm marine life or ecosystems. Currently, the technology is being adapted to be implemented in water treatment facilities worldwide.

P.S.
Simply love to see people still innovating all over the planet, not giving up on making this pace a better world. Guess what - you can do it too!!

//DO YOU REMEMBER THE SOUNDS OF THE 80s ?!?!

Everything has become digital today.

But somehow, emotions are gone because of that, right?

_we can stream every song
_we can watch every movie
_we can play every game

But then again

_I remember how excited I was when an artist released a new album
_I remember how excited I was when I bought a new vinyl
_I remember how excited I was about my radio show

We have lost the feeling of value because everything is available.

This week, we worked on a side project to bring back the magic of entertainment and music. What a ride. This reminded me of my youth.

P.S.
I remember how I repurchased my first turntables in the 90s for a ton of money. I collected every cent for years to afford these magic technical devices. I loved my Technics SL 1210 MK2. Today came the day I gave them to my son.

I am proud that he understood the value of vinyl, even though he grew up with flat rates, all digital music, and everything always available.

The world is at peace ;-)

//WHY IS THIS PITCH SOOO GOOD?

Is it all about the product?
No. It's way more than that!

1. He is fully committed
2. He has Confidence
3. He has pure #energy!

Would you believe me if I said: You can learn that too?

Here's a short analysis of the video:

Everybody can sense that Rener Gracie is in the driver's seat.
He is super confident and leads this pitch every second.

- He uses #Storytelling to describe the Problem and the Need,
with a situation everyone knows and can identify with.
- In this way, he can connect on an emotional basis.
- He also entertains his audience. He hits the tonality of
his audiences perfectly, providing laughs and #engagement
without losing the lead.

Engagement
His storytelling style still ensures engagement from investors. He sets tasks that can't be done (count to 3), generates laughs, and always surprises with new twists.

The closing
And finally, he also makes it personal and indirectly says something about himself and his values (family, sports, business) with his pitch.

- And then he did a great closing with a sticky slogan
with a sports-business analogy that doubles and
underlines the strong CTA.

What are your thoughts on this?

Would you believe you can also learn to perform like?

Let me know in the comments.

//LONG-LOST STEVE JOBS KEYNOTE FROM 1984 đŸ”„

This Long-lost keynote from the 1984 International Design Conference in Aspen is a masterpiece.

What we can learn from this talk for today?

Steve Jobs' talk from the 1984 International Design Conference in Aspen offers several timeless insights that are still relevant today. Here are some key lessons we can draw from it:

1. **Vision for Innovation**: Jobs discussed the importance of not settling for mediocrity and instead aiming to design products that incorporate both technology and liberal arts. This highlights the value of interdisciplinary thinking and striving for excellence.

2. **User Experience Focus**: He emphasized making technology user-friendly by incorporating elements like proportionally spaced fonts, multiple fonts, and graphics. Today, this translates to designing user interfaces and experiences that are intuitive and aesthetically pleasing.

3. **Importance of Design**: Jobs placed a strong emphasis on the design of the product, not just its functionality. This underscores the need for modern products to be both beautiful and functional, adding to the overall user experience.

4. **Long-term Perspective**: He talked about designing with the future in mind, even if the current technology couldn't fully support their vision. This teaches us the importance of forward-thinking and planning for future advancements.

5. **Giving Back**: Jobs mentioned the idea of contributing to the pool of human knowledge and experience, rather than just taking from it. This reiterates the importance of innovation that benefits society and adds value to the world.

6. **Timing and Opportunity**: He believed they were in the right place at the right time to make a significant impact. This highlights the importance of recognizing and seizing opportunities when they arise.

7. **Fun and Passion**: Finally, Jobs spoke about the fun and excitement of being part of something transformative. This serves as a reminder that passion and enjoyment in one's work are crucial for driving innovation and success.

P.S.
These principles from Steve can still guide today's tech leaders and innovators in creating products that not only meet current needs but also pave the way for future advancements, all while adding genuine value to the world.

Don't be too focused on technology. Be like Steve!

//THIS BOARD SHOULD BE PLACED EVERYWHERE đŸ”„

Sometimes, Innovations do not need to be complicated.

A simple board in a restaurant can reduce waste drastically.

Individuals tend to take more than necessary when food is provided for free as part of an arrangement.

By using this approach, they were able to reduce the amount of waste significantly.

P.S.
What I learned the hard way in Innovation development:
Sometimes, the most innovative solutions are not the best but the simplest.

//THIS IS WHAT BOTS & AI SHOULD REALLY DO!

Clearbot: Revolutionizing Plastic Waste Cleanup

Clearbot, a Hong Kong startup, was inspired by Bali's plastic pollution crisis.

Co-founders Sidhant Gupta and Utkarsh Goel witnessed locals using surfboards to collect waste and envisioned a better solution.

They created an unmanned, solar-powered boat that autonomously collects plastic waste from shorelines and waterways.

The boat can gather 200 kilos of waste, with a larger model soon to handle 450 kilos. Clearbot’s zero-emission boats are safe, eco-friendly, and equipped with cameras for waste tracking.

Supported by Bupa’s eco-Disruptive program, Clearbot is among 17 startups receiving funding to innovate for a healthier planet.

This collaboration showcases the power of technology and community in addressing environmental challenges.

//THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE WHEN YOU'VE BEEN REJECTED 100 TIMES AND YOUR STARTUP IS NOW WORTH 26 BILLION

35-year-old Canva founder Melanie Perkins got rejected by 100 VCs. Now her $26 billion design startup is ready to take on Microsoft and Google and Adobe.

Listen to Melanies very valuable lessons:
“If you can put your mind and effort into something and then you can actually see that that mind and time and effort and determination actually equates to success, and it means that you'll get more and more ready to take deeper and bigger risks.“

“Every stage of running a company has significant challenges and it, depending on which stage you're at, that challenge is the biggest, hardest thing to overcome ever.“

“And it was just this crazy time of trying to make something out of nothing. And especially in the very early stages, I think investors were attracted to solving a real problem that really mattered and affected a lot of people. And so that was the thing that we really could prove in the early stages was that a lot of people cared about design.“

“A lot of people need to create great content but didn't have the tools. I'm sure one of the most important things that has carried us through and got us to where we are today is just been sheer determination. Um, I think most people would probably give up before the hundredth revision to their pitch deck before the hundredth invested their pitch too.“

“But it's just you have to believe in what you're doing before anyone else will, and you just have to keep on persisting and pushing through. And it's not easy. There's nothing about starting a company that's easy. It like bites, very nature is going completely against the grain. Um, but it's so worth it.“

“And if you enjoy a challenge, don't get a better one than a startup.“

What a brilliant mind and rolemodel!!!

//HOW IT FEELS TO RUN A STARTUP...

Yep, I hear it all the time.

People are exhausted from running a startup all alone.

And when you do things for the first time, it doesn't make things easier...

Some facts:
_90% of start-ups fail. This makes it all the more important to do everything possible to avoid the mistakes that lead to failure.

_According to the Global Startup Studio Network, startups that emerge from startup studios have a 30% higher success rate.

_In addition, almost every one of the startups created with the help of a startup studio reaches the next seed round, and 72% of these, in turn, reach Series A financing.

P.S.
Next year, we are going to have two free startup studio slots or venture studio slots available where we help founders not just with funding but with active support to overcome the product-market-fit gap as fast as possible. (Usually in less than 3 to 6 months compared to the 24 months when doing it all alone)

//ENGINEERING IS NOT JUST A CAREER - IT'S A LIFESTYLE

I got asked that so often: Lars, you must be a millionaire with all the innovations you developed.

Nope. I never focused on money in my career. I loved building new innovative products and services, and guess what? This is what truly fulfills me.

Yes, getting fair pay is also important. But in the end, I believe in our business world, we are way too focused on money, kpis, and success based on old definitions.

Engineering is a lifestyle and a way of thinking, not just a career

For a lot of engineers, problem-solving and optimization spill over into their personal lives, shaping how they tackle hobbies and everyday tasks. Whether it’s figuring out the best way to whip up dinner or using technical skills for creative projects, their focus on constant improvement becomes part of who they are. It’s not just a job for them; it’s a mindset that prioritizes efficiency, innovation, and practical solutions in everything they do.

Honestly, as an innovation engineer, I’m always brainstorming new products or challenges—even during my bathroom breaks! 😅

P.S.
What about you? Do you catch yourself using that “engineering mindset“ in your everyday life? Is it a good thing, or can it sometimes be a bit much? Would love to hear what you think!

//MASSIVE SUCCESS IS THE BEST REVENGE đŸ”„

I've lost count of how many times my innovations were rejected.

People laughed, doubted, and slammed doors in my face.

But you know what? I kept going.

Here's the thing: 99% of folks can't tell the difference between a crazy idea and a genius one.

And that's okay. It's not their job to see your vision.

Remember this:
Every 'no' is just fuel for your fire.
Every rejection is a chance to prove them wrong.

To all you innovators out there:
Don't let the naysayers stop you.
Keep pushing, keep creating, keep believing in your ideas.

Because one day, your success will speak louder than any criticism ever did.

And trust me, that feeling is worth every setback.

//CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN?!

Most Innovation initiatives are facing the same problems again and again...

But then again, it seems like most people still stick to the same old process.

_30,000 new consumer products are launched every year
_76% of them do not generate any revenue
_94% of them fail (Based on a study by the Harvard business school)

I have seen so many great products and businesses fail, because they had no #productmarketfit

Most of them had highly optimistic success expectation, while there was no #wtp (willingness to pay) in reality.

Here is the main idea to remember before you say yes to developing a new product or feature.

_Don't rely on market research
_Don't rely on business plans
_Don't rely on concepts

>>> Test before invest!!

//THE THINGS YOU REGRET MOST IN LIFE ARE THE THINGS YOU DIDN'T DO (STEVE JOBS)

We never break out of our rat race because we are so fear-driven

- Fear of what others might think if we fail
- Fear that we might not achieve our goals
- Fear of failure
- Fear of fear
you name it.

A real game changer for me was this simple question:

What would you do - if you simply could not fail?

And then ask yourself. What is the worst thing that could happen?

This rare video footage of Steve Jobs is a masterpiece of simplicity and a deep understanding of what drives us.

Do what you love.

Do it with passion.

Don't care about what other might think.

//STEVE JOBS TOOK 18 SECONDS TO THINK ABOUT HIS ANSWER TO THIS GREAT QUESTION

We're obsessed with quick responses in today's fast-paced world. But true wisdom often requires patience.

When asked what he learned at Apple that he was applying at NeXT, Steve Jobs didn't rush. He paused for a full 18 seconds - an eternity in conversation - before delivering this profound insight:

“I now take a longer term view on people. When I see something not being done right, my first reaction isn't to go fix it. It's to say: We're building a team here and we're gonna do great stuff for the next decade, not just the next year. So what do I need to do to help so that the person that's screwing up learns?“

This perspective shift is everything. The best leaders don't just solve immediate problems - they invest in people's growth.

Next time you're tempted to swoop in and “fix“ something, ask yourself: what would happen if I invested those 18 seconds in thinking about the long game instead?

P.S.
Great leadership isn't about having all the answers.
Sometimes it's about having the patience to ask better questions.

The faster you accept this, the faster you might get traction out there with your products.

> Stop being boring
> Find the exceptional in your products
> Adress the subconscious fears and desires

= Sell towards emotions and feelings!

1. Try to get into their world!
2. Talk about what they care about, their problems, fears, and desires.
2. Don't sell products, sell results and solutions.
3. Don't talk about what your product can do.
4. Talk about what the product can do for them.

Thank me later...

//HOW TO OVERCOME OVERTHINKING? đŸ”„

Many people struggle with overthinking.

Which is a good sign because that means you are somehow intelligent.

On the other side, the more intelligent you are, the more risks you might think of, and the more problems you see, the less you get actual results.

Yep. I`ve been there, too.

How do we overcome this phenomenon?

Simply by doing first.

That first scribble? Just do it - no matter if you are good at sketching something.

What comes next?

Iteration.

Try to optimize it.
Try to imagine what the end product might look like.
(We use AI render engines at this point)

Still not the result you wanted?

Keep on iterating.
And iterating and iterating.

Until you believe it's good enough to show it to a friend.
Get feedback.

Do another iteration.
And then go to market.

Do you believe you can't do that?
Yep, you can. Just give yourself a hard deadline for the going-to-market.

In our case, it's one week only.
Nothing more - nothing less.

We always aim for a single week only because perfection is the other problem you are facing when trying to bring a new product to market.

In this way, we overcome the overthinking and perfection modes in one strike.

P.S.
Yes, I am also guilty of trying to be that “perfect“ engineer. I learned there is no such thing as perfect, even if you invested years or millions. You need to interact with real people and the market to find out where to optimize your product.

There is nothing in the world to overcome this: no market research, no theoretical PowerPoint concepts.

Nothing.

//WHO NEEDS A REAL DOG ANYWAY? A.I. DOGS ARE HERE!! đŸ€–

Have you heard about those AI-powered dogs?

I just saw this one called Go2 - it's a quadruped robot that's like a real pup, but with AI technology.

It's got built-in AI that helps it understand the world better and make decisions.

And get this - it can do all sorts of tricks like jump, stretch, shake hands, cheer, pounce, and sit down.

Plus, it's got this smart side-follow system that keeps it close to you. And apparently, it's always learning and getting smarter.

But, it's also pretty pricey - it costs $1600!

P.S.
While watching this video, I still prefer my “classic“ cat.
Much less annoying. ;-)

//BOOK-SMART VS STREET-SMART?!

What is the difference between learning how to bring your products to market in theory?

VS

Learning how to bring your products to market in practice?

-------

In “the practice way“, you are learning step per step. (Like small hits, that won't knock you out)

In “the theoretical“ way, you tried to be perfectly prepared and get hit by the market and it®s over.

In “the pratice way“, you get feedback from the market and learn.

-------

After being 15 years in the innovation business I will never go “the theoretical way“ anymore.

ItÂŽs your choice.

//GERMAN INNOVATION STRATEGY EXPLAINED IN 17 SECONDS

You simply can't explain better what's going on in Germany by watching this entertaining video.

To make something digital in Germany, you first have to print it out and then digitize it again.

Welcome to the engineering wonderland ;-)

P.S.
Yep, there are numerous exceptions, but the bureaucracy is still sky-high when it comes to the officials.

//BECAUSE A TRUE INNOVATOR_CAN'T BE STOPPED!

We know all this for sure:

_corporate bureaucracy
_corporate hierarchies
_creative vacuums
_budget cuts
_draw backs

Any many, many more. đŸ€Ż

How an real innovator deals with it?

Like the example in the video!

_We simply don't care.
_We innovate anyway.
_We find a way.

>Not an excuse.

//WHEN YOU FINALLY REALIZE HOW MOST BIG CORPORATES ARE TRYING TO INNOVATE...

_ideation sessions
_creative workshops
_design thinking

Yep, we are guilty - we also tried to innovate this way.

To be honest, none of that stuff worked for us!

We also had a failure rate of around 70-80% đŸ€Ż

Do you know what happens if almost 80% of your work is crap?

_you are getting frustrated
_you are becoming a nerve wrack
_you start questioning yourself

The good news? We finally developed the Innoweek format.

_one week only - but going all in
_one single goal - no bs allowed
_the only goal is to bring an idea to market
_and test it with real buying customers

Why this way?

_we are getting out of endless discussions
_we don't have budget issues
_we get real tangible market response

And yes - we even might fail faster!

But then again - can you even call it failing if you just invested one week?

Fun fact:
70% of the “great ideas“ we develop within one week are getting totally unexpected feedback. And with that feedback, we are able to pivot so we finally get the holy grail called “product-market-fit“

//I TOLD YOU IT FEELS LIKE A ROLLERCOASTER!?!

Hey, have you ever experienced the innoweek model yet?

It's seriously like a rollercoaster ride - so much fun!
And also a lot of downs, a least once per week ;-)

Basically, most people love it, they have never been productive like this in their lives, but then again it feels completely different from all the other stuff they have ever experienced about product development, engineering & marketing.

I know it might sound too good to be true, but trust me, you won't want to miss it.

And the good thing: You can tell all your colleagues:
“No sorry I cant help you today - I am in an Innoweek... “

//SOLAR RAILWAY INNOVATION

Swiss startup Sun-Ways is shaking things up in the solar energy scene by turning railway tracks into solar power stations!

They’re putting removable solar panels between the rails, so they can soak up the sun’s energy without messing with train schedules, all while cutting down CO2 emissions.

It’s a pretty cool way to promote sustainable energy, right?

//YOU ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE PERFECT MOMENT?

How many people are waiting for the perfect moment to start doing something?

- How many opportunities are already gone?
- How much incredible potential is lost?
- All this just because people hesitate instead of doing?

At the risk of repeating myself, we are never really ready. For anything!

>>> That perfect time will never come!

The secret to success lies in start doing it without having the feeling that you are already perfect.

> How do I know? Because I did it!

- My #1 Bestselling Book? Everybody told me - it’s not ready to be published. - I did it anyway.

- Becoming the #1 Linkedin Influencer on the taplio Ranking? - Just trying, iterating and consistency.

- Getting on the #5 podcast charts? - Make an educated guess.

None of the successes above started with a perfect product.

But I started and kept going; nevertheless, all the naysayers told me the opposite.

- Start today.

- We are never ready.

- Yes, god damn, you can do it!
