About 10 years ago, I woke up every morning to depression and panic. I was lost, scared, and failing at everything.

My anxiety and drinking were out of control. I was unemployed. Bankruptcy was looming. My marriage was falling apart. The financial and emotional stress was suffocating.

I had nothing but excuses. I was so stuck.

10 years later, I’ve cured my anxiety. I wake up every morning excited about my life. My husband Chris and I are better than ever. I’ve sold millions of books, become the host of my very own daytime talk show, and made more money than I’d ever thought was possible.

How? By making a decision. If you feel stuck, or overwhelmed, or want to change your life, you’ve got a decision to make too.

Decide that you deserve more. Decide that you’ll stop accepting survival as a lifestyle. Decide that this is your decade. Decide that you will stop listening to the same excuses and self doubt that has held you back forever.

Today, make a decision to get out of bed every morning and fight. Fight your self doubt. Fight your anxiety. Fight your fear. And do the work you are avoiding.

Yes it will be hard. Yes you’ll face judgment. Yes you’ll fail so many times you’ll stop counting. Yes you won’t know how to do it. Do it anyway.

You have to start pushing through your resistance, your self-doubt and your bullsh*t excuses. It’s the only way to build simple discipline. And simple discipline is the secret to EVERYTHING.

You’re NOT too late!!

For years, I watched podcast after podcast launch into the market and every time I saw someone I admire launch a show, I’d say to myself, “You blew it. You missed the window. You should’ve done it years ago. It’s too late now.”

I know I’m not the only one who does this because I see everyone struggle with this kind of timeline comparison.

If you’re in your teens, you’re probably telling yourself it’s too late to try out for the basketball or soccer team because you can’t switch sports at this stage in the game.

If you’re in your 20s, you’re probably telling yourself that it’s too late, you already picked your major and now you can’t change your career path.

If you’re in your 30s, you’re probably telling yourself you’ll always be single, you’ll never have a family of your own, and that this is it.

If you’re in your 40s, you’re probably beating yourself up for the financial decisions that you’ve made and now it’s too late for you to recover.

Are you getting my point? As long as you tell yourself it’s not the right time or you missed the window of opportunity, you will be unhappy.

The time is now 🔥

Action is the answer. All changes that you wanna make in life start with you.

Before you label yourself as somebody who has social anxiety, just take a minute and ask yourself this:

💡 Is that reluctance to go out just a sign that you prefer to be home?

💡 Does the nervousness just mean that you’re more interested in deeper connections, not a frat party?

💡 Is the uneasiness about seeing people from your past just a recognition of just how much you’ve grown?

It may surprise you to know that I’m someone who feels all of this. I know, I know… It’s hard to believe because I’m so extroverted online and in my work, but in life I’m really a homebody at heart.

Whenever my husband Chris and I pull up to a gathering, I feel both excited to see people I like, but also a weird feeling in my stomach about small talk with people I don’t know as well.

It took me a really long time to embrace the fact that there’s nothing wrong with me.

I just can’t stand small talk. And I don’t care for big groups. I prefer deep conversations with just a handful of people.

Don’t get me wrong, every once in a while we all need a massive blowout of a party (in fact I’m looking forward to a few this week), but not the conversations about the weather 😉.
