I had a call yesterday with a marketing leader who got laid off and wanted to pick my brain.

She told me:

“I know I should post on LinkedIn more. But I still need to make a content calendar.“

“You actually don't 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 one,“ I said. “I grew MY LinkedIn to almost 40,000 followers with no calendar!“

Her face: 😲

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀?

- I write about whatever's on my mind that day.

- I don't batch my content or use templates or use AI.

- I spend more time engaging in the comments than writing posts.

- If I don't have something worth saying that day, I don't bother posting.

𝗜𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀, 𝗜 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲!

This is your reminder that you don't 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 a calendar or templates or whatnot. You just need to get started. 😘

Life hack for content marketers:

Create a “friendly file.”

Every time I meet someone awesome, I add them to my friendly file with details like:

- Name
- Job level
- Company
- Area of expertise

Comes in handy when you need:

- a freelancer
- a full-time hire
- a co-marketing partner
- an event speaker
- a testimonial
- a podcast guest
- a subject matter expert
