I’m grateful for an unexpected moment of clarity at the gym this morning.
A casual acquaintance handed me a printout of an email he recently sent his two grandchildren. The note told them that as a late Christmas gift, he had bought them each 35 shares of Smartsheet stock. The note explained why he thought Smartsheet was a good investment and ended with, “Hopefully, we will watch Smartsheet grow!”
In my role, it’s easy to focus my energies on the analysts, fund managers, bankers, and others that drive the institutional investment world. Those people - and what they do - are very important to me and our business. But, as we start our new fiscal year, I’ll be focusing my thinking and energies as much on what the Smartsheet team and I do to deliver on the trust and hope placed in us by investors like this grandfather and his grandkids.
