College Students - Don’t get misguided by your seniors on these points :

1. CGPA will not matter -

It matters. Its not about 9.9 CGPA or something, but decent CGPA always shows sincerity. So keep it as much high as possible. Everybody studies during exams only and its not that much hard to maintain decent CGPA.

2. Participating In societies will help you in tech jobs-

For technical jobs, participating in societies or getting certificates is absolutely nothing. You may do it for personality development, becoming extrovert but never do it for certificates or thinking it will help you in cracking tech jobs.

3. You can crack any company by studying in 2-3 months-

Don’t fall in this trap. It takes lot of effort and hard work to crack any company. You need to do well in your college years to crack any decent company.

4. College projects can only be copied -

Honestly, college is the best time when you should invest your time in making really cool projects. Don't do mediocre things of getting copied projects. It's the best time for you to show some creativity. You will not get so much time for projects after college and you may regret it later.

Keep learning :)

- Every Software engineer does not get a higher salary in starting. But are they not good software engineers?
- Is switching jobs the only way to go to higher packages? But if I keep switching jobs, then when would I learn?

- Work from home is good but is it hampering my growth?

- There is a lot of peer pressure to go abroad and earn more money?
Isn’t it difficult to leave family and leave abroad to just earn more money?

- I might be getting a good salary but I am not enjoying the work or my team doesn’t have enough work? What should I do?

These are some of the common questions faced by every software engineer.
And if we know the answers to all these questions earlier, we can grow a lot as software engineers with amazing decision making.

I have discussed all these points in a video with Raj Vikramaditya(Striver) . He has experience of working at companies like Google, Amazon and Directi and personally faced all the problems.

He has answered all the above questions beautifully.
Do check out the video in the first comment and would love to know the feedback if any.

“I am not able to solve DSA questions, can I crack a good job ?“

One of the most common doubt which students have in their college life is this.

To clear the air, DSA is indeed very important for Placements, especially if you are targetting big tech companies like Amazon, Microsoft or Google.

But what if you are not good at DSA ?
Here are few things which will help you in this case :

📍 Decent level of DSA is enough to become a great programmer. Solving 200-250 questions of linked list, arrays, stacks, queues, dp etc. is totally fine.

Understanding the approach is more important, even if you have solved these questions by seeing solutions.

📍 You don't need to be a competitive programmer to become a great web or app developer. Decent level of DSA will do the job

📍I have personally witnessed multiple people who are who are working in startups and killing it through development.

They are not that much great in dsa but amazing in development.

📍One thing more, never ignore DSA at all. Even if you are preparing for developer roles at startups. Because DSA forms the fundamental of development and decent knowledge is a must.

These were some tips from my side if you are not good at DSA but still want to make a career in software development.

You can add more points to this list through comment section.

Day 1 of programming was “Yaar ye toh bdi mushkil hai”

Day 10 of programming was “Yaar merse hogi bhi ki nhi coding?”

Day 20 of programming was “Ab chizen samajh aari hai”

Day 40 of programming was “Yaar ab toh mazza aara hai challenging problems me”

Day 80 of programming was “Ab mujhe college ka top coder banna hai”

Day 150 of programming was “Mamma, I cracked Amazon”

This was my programming journey from

Crying -> Trying -> Being one of the best Coders

↳ and cracking the Amazon on the first day of Campus Placements.

You are already in 5% when you arrive on Day 20 because most quit when it gets hard.

You are in 1% when you cross Day 150.

-> The key to sustaining the 150 days of mastering a skill is

“Show up the very next day when it gets difficult, even when you don’t want to”

You got the drill now.

Close LinkedIn now and get back to work.
