Enjoyed hosting Mike Bloomberg in our New York offices. Mike has been a transformative leader across sectors and has played a central role in shaping the city of New York.

It was great to highlight some key moments from BNY's history and discuss how we’re thinking about innovation and delivering new solutions to clients. And our Markets team was of course more than happy to make some time to talk shop.

As someone who has significant experience with innovation and change, Mike had unique insights about both navigating markets and the impact of emerging technology like AI.

Thanks again to Mike and the Bloomberg team for the visit.

239 years ago today, Alexander Hamilton founded the Bank of New York, helping to establish the groundwork for a future market infrastructure that would transform the global economy. Our new collaboration with MoCaFi, a fintech that helps unlock the benefits of real-time payments for more people, is BNY Mellon’s latest industry first to build on this legacy. Our teams celebrated by ringing the closing bell at the NYSE, where our company was the first ever listed. https://lnkd.in/ehN-uZdJ\n\nWe have the first paper account ledgers on display at our headquarters, and we were the first bank to bring real-time payments to market in the United States. Now, we will continue this evolution by bringing our capabilities to communities and individuals who may have historically been left out and underserved by the financial system.\n\nBNY Mellon started as America’s first bank to help revitalize the nation’s economy after the Revolutionary War, and today, we’re so much more than that: helping that economy work better for everyone. Touching around 20% of the world’s investable assets, our company is a beacon of trust, #resilience and #innovation with the ability to benefit society. And we’re just getting started. #FoundersDay

BNY opened our first Manchester office with 50 employees 20 years ago, and today we’re a top 10 employer in the city. As we prepare for our next phase of growth in Manchester, we welcomed the Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves and Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, along with some of our team, to see our flagship new office that we’ll move into next year in the NOMA development.

Manchester has one of the largest financial services industries in the UK outside of the capital and I appreciated the opportunity to talk with the Chancellor and the Mayor about our commitment to Manchester, the hub of talent that the city offers and the opportunities we all see for unlocking growth.

Leadership depends on inspiring people at every level to help move an organization forward. I spent some time last week with one high-performing group of rising company management to discuss how we’re developing and investing in our talent and future leaders.

Having recently passed the mid-year mark and performance review season, I offered the following pieces of advice to this group for the second half of the year:

1. Creating a culture of transparency with consistent, actionable feedback is necessary for both rising talent and company leadership.

2. Empowering those around you to embrace ownership will pay dividends by accelerating client outcomes, supporting longer-term professional growth and making work more fulfilling.

3. Forming a network of doers across businesses, regions and functions is incredibly commercial. Collaboration enables us to break down silos to elevate client service, and it can also make a company feel more human.

I’m grateful to be with my family this Thanksgiving and to have enjoyed a bit of a down time at home this week. A true luxury I don’t take for granted when many around the world are feeling the weight of hardship.

I’m also grateful as always for our BNY Mellon teams around the world who have enabled us to do great things throughout the year. Happy Thanksgiving to clients, colleagues and friends.

BNY Mellon delivered solid financial performance and continued progress on the steady transformation of our company.

We committed to drive higher underlying growth and enhanced operational efficiency. While it is still early in our journey, we are starting to see the signs of progress inside the company. We are innovating and pushing forward on our multi-year growth investments all while remaining disciplined to deliver positive operating leverage and pre-tax margin expansion.

I am proud and appreciative of our employees’ dedication through all of the work required to unlock BNY Mellon’s potential. Together, we will be more for our clients, run our company better and power our culture to create value for clients, shareholders and employees alike.
Silicon Valley – Center of the universe? (twinned with DC maybe…). There’s no better place for a week of conversations around #AI and other emerging technologies with partners, clients and investors.

AI is a catalyst for transformational change— maybe akin to electricity, and it’s estimated to generate $32 trillion in global GDP growth by 2030. We see enormous near- and long-term potential for AI at BNY- vast trove of data assets to develop unique insights and solutions that deliver value for clients, and a tech that can empower our teams as a force multiplier for productivity.

This week we were very pleased to announce a new collaboration with OpenAI that will help accelerate our #AI adoption. Read more in The Wall Street Journal: https://lnkd.in/egJavYNc

I’m proud of the progress we’ve already made with AI, and the amazing team. The energy this week makes me even more excited for the opportunity on the horizon.
In my Annual Letter to Shareholders, I reflected on the progress BNY made in 2024 and where we can further unlock the opportunity in 2025 and the years to come.

Our team has made good progress to clarify our potential - being more for our clients, running our company better and powering our culture – and we have a lot of runway. Over the last two years, we’ve laid the foundation and begun to deliver, but I’m optimistic that we’re on the right path to do much more.

To our clients – our platforms are broad and deep and there for you. Don’t be a stranger.

To our people around the world – you are making a difference! – One BNY.

To our shareholders – we like to think that we are just getting started.

Big week last week: several BNY Mellon leadership meetings and a business trip. But more importantly, a wedding anniversary and a high school graduation.

With all the focus at the moment on days in the office, last week was a reminder of the importance of something different - flexibility. I stepped out for a few hours to watch one of my kids graduate high school. Being able to participate in these important and irreplicable family milestones is a privilege for which I’m incredibly grateful. My dad didn’t get the same flexibility in his job that I have in mine, but I'm fortunate that he is still in my life as a lifelong mentor and role model: something I don’t take for granted.

With #FathersDay coming up this weekend in the United States and several countries around the world, I wanted to acknowledge this moment as a dad myself, but also as a reminder that we each have the power to make a difference in the world to our own families around us.

To friends, clients and colleagues who also have the important job of helping to raise the next generation, #HappyFathersDay. #LifeAtBNYMellon
