When empathy is improved, we become better humans.

Empathy leads to:

Stronger, more meaningful relationships success in the workplace better health and quality of life

90% of top performers in the workplace have high emotional intelligence!

The more people can understand their own thoughts, feelings and emotions the more they can understand someone else’s. When we become better listeners, we become better people.

Empathy is the ability to trust others. When your friends feel that you care, then you have earned their trust.

If they trust you, they will take more risks with you and be more open with you. Your friends will talk openly with you only when they trust you.

As trust builds, there will be more sharing of information, feelings and thoughts.

The sharing expands the base upon which you and others can relate to each other.

Teaching kids patience is a valuable life skill! Here are some ways to do so:

1. Lead by example: Show kids how you handle frustrating situations calmly.
2. Set clear expectations: Explain what's expected of them and the consequences of impatience.
3. Encourage delayed gratification: Teach them to wait for rewards or privileges.
4. Practice mindfulness: Engage in activities that promote calmness and focus, like meditation or deep breathing.
5. Role-play different scenarios: Teach kids how to handle frustrating situations, like sharing or taking turns.
6. Encourage problem-solving: Help them think critically and find solutions to problems.
7. Praise effort, not just results: Foster a growth mindset by praising their hard work and progress.
8. Teach time management: Help them prioritize tasks and manage their time effectively.
9. Encourage empathy: Teach kids to understand and respect others' feelings and perspectives.
10. Make waiting fun: Turn wait times into games or fun activities, like “I Spy“ or storytelling.

Remember, teaching patience takes time, consistency, and positive reinforcement. By starting early and being patient yourself, you'll help kids develop this valuable skill!

What are the different ways to teach Emotional Intelligence to children?

Well, I believe there are a lot of ways to help children develop emotionally and socially.

But to begin with, just spending time with them and showing them love and affection is key.

Our children will model how they see us behave, so we have to make sure we’re displaying proper social skills and emotional intelligence.

Also, showing our kids how to be appreciative and kind to others is key.

So, finding opportunities for them to volunteer and understanding that not everyone has the advantages they have can be very helpful in this area.

Lastly, just talk with them continuously about the proper way to respond in various situations.

So, if they fight and react in anger or refuse to offer forgiveness, sit down and discuss what they did right/what they did wrong.

These can be great opportunities to teach children how to treat others and act in both public and private situations.

We usually identify our existence with our position in society, our friends and family, the needs and desires of our body, and the emotional and intellectual expressions of our mind.

For example, We might say ‘I am a student studying engineering, I have a brother and live in Bangalore with my family’. We rarely take the time to contemplate the real nature of our existence; to ask the question, “Who am I?“

Self-awareness is about learning to better understand why you feel what you feel and why you behave in a particular way.

Once you begin to understand this concept you then have the opportunity and freedom to change things about yourself enabling you to create the life that you want.

It’s almost impossible to change and become self-accepting if you are unsure as to who you are.

Having clarity about who you are and what you want can be empowering, giving you the confidence to make changes.

Self-awareness is important because when we have a better understanding of ourselves, we are able to experience ourselves as unique and separate individuals.

We are then empowered to make changes and to build on our areas of strength as well as identify areas where we would like to make improvements.

Self-awareness is often the first step to goal setting. Self-awareness is being conscious of what you're good at while acknowledging what you still have yet to learn. This includes admitting when you don't have the answer and owning up to mistakes.

In our highly competitive culture, this can seem counterintuitive. In fact, many of us operate on the belief that we must appear as though we know everything all the time, or else people will question our abilities, and then perhaps judge us.

If you're honest with yourself, you'll admit that really the opposite is true. Because whether you acknowledge your weaknesses or not, everyone still sees them. So rather than conceal them, the person who tries to hide weaknesses actually highlights them, creating the perception of a lack of integrity and self-awareness.

It's all about u and your Perception!!!

As humans, we like to think that we apply pure logic and control many outcomes in life.

But, we actually are often guilty of cognitive distortions.

These are thought patterns that are not based on reality or facts. They are a distortion of reality.

Why do we have these thinking patterns?

Sometimes they are a coping mechanism or a way to protect us.

Sometimes they harm us and are a result of trauma or our upbringing.

Comment below which of these you are guilty of sometimes👇

We resort to anger to protect our raw and vulnerable feelings like fear and sadness. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Every time I see someone with temper issues, I know there are years and years of self-protection going on there. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When you’re snappy and short-tempered, ask yourself- what else is there beneath this? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We turn to anger because it gives us the illusion of power and strength whereas the other emotions it blankets make us feel vulnerable. ⁣⁣
