Reality Check.

Just because you sometimes struggle with self-doubt, bad habits or you don't have a perfect morning routine doesn't make you any less successful - it makes you a human being.

I offered this young guy a job 10 minutes after he sent me this message 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

He identified a blind spot I had, created a solution, got it done, and sent me a nice message.

This one act stood out more than the 500+ CV’s I’ve received this week.

It turns out he had just been made redundant - what a great demonstration of initiative.

See you in April Nathan Bickerton!

One of the most important things that you will learn 👇🏽

When you fully understand how often people cope with their own insecurities, fear and unresolved issues by projecting negativity on to you, you’ll quickly learn not to take the things they say or do to heart.

Those are their issues, don’t give them permission to make them yours.

Read this before you start your weekend...👇🏽

Hard work really makes a difference and if you want to be 'successful', you should work hard.

Rest really makes a difference and if you want to be 'successful', you should rest.

Balance is the key, a balance that optimises your effectiveness & more importantly, your happiness.

I call this your “invisible PR” and when people (especially young people) start in my companies, it’s the first thing I tell them about.
Failure = feedback.

If we can increase the amount of experiments we do, then we will increase the probability of us failing and finding the right answer.

If there are no mistakes made, then there are simply no lessons to be learned.

We hit 10 million subscribers today… so I wanted to share something unexpected that this process has taught me: one of the unforeseen consequences of interviewing around 400 people on The Diary of a CEO is the clear realisation of how important it is to be kind to strangers online.

I’ve interviewed some of the most impressive, seemingly flawless, successful, and famous people on the planet - CEOs, athletes, scientists, authors - and every single one of them is battling something beneath the surface.

In fact, I don't know a single person in my life who isn't struggling with something.

The most successful person I know is dealing with mental health issues - and so is my unemployed best friend from school.

I know someone you'd consider the life of any party who's privately been mentally crippled for years because of his child's illness.

The most beautiful person I know attends hypnotherapy because of crippling insecurity and body dysmorphia.

Last week, I spoke to a start-up founder who recently appeared on a magazine cover - he’s still in therapy for depression.

The internet flattens humans into two dimensions, but when you spend thousands of hours interviewing strangers, you come to learn that everyone is three-dimensional, and that third dimension is invisible.

I say all of this to say...

Give strangers the benefit of the doubt; look for the good in them.

Your words can either leave lasting scars or make someone's day.

Both options are free, but the world desperately needs more of the latter, and less of the former.

Anyway...

Thank you to all of you for the support and encouragement for the last 4 years, It's spurred me and my team on in ways you'll probably never know.

What started as a passion project in my bedroom in Manchester called The Diary Of A CEO, has evolved into a media company called FLIGHTSTORY which has employed hundreds of people around the world.

We're having so much fun, pushing ourselves really hard and we know we are only just getting started! ❤️

What would you like to see from us next???

Are you keeping yourself stuck?! 🤯

You can predict someone’s success in any area of their life by observing how willing and capable they are at dealing with discomfort.

Remember - your personal progression is trapped behind something uncomfortable.

Taking no risk, is a risk.

If you avoid taking risks you're missing out on life.

It's as simple as that!

Never take anything personally...

The truth is, in every interpersonal conflict in your life - business, romantic or platonic - communication is both the problem and the solution.

Healthy conflict strengthens relationships because those involved are working against a problem.

Unhealthy conflict weakens a relationship because those involved are working against each other.

Business can be simple; hire people smarter than you, get out their way, and let them tell you what to do! Please join me in welcoming Amy Golding as CEO of my private office. Who is she?👇🏾

Who is Amy Golding?

⭐️ She became personal business advisor to former Dragon James Caan CBE in her 20s.

⭐️ She founded a Venture Capital company in her late 20s.

⭐️ Successfully grew Opus Talent Solutions into an international powerhouse, expanding across multiple continents.

⭐️ She's also really funny, a great writer, really smart and doesn't take life too seriously.

I wish someone had told me this sooner...

At a fundamental level, every company is simply a recruitment company.
You are not what happened to you, you are how you chose to handle it.

Sometimes all you need is a different perspective…

Change is an inevitable part of life and business.

Those that actively adapt an experimentation mindset will go x10 further than those who don't.

Look for this characteristic in your team.

I assure you - Quitting is a skill. Stay with me on this one...👇🏽

Knowing when to quit, change direction, leave a toxic situation, demand more from life or give up on something that you know in your heart isn’t right and move on is a life-defining skill that people who find fulfilment, love and success - people who win at life have intuitively mastered.

How do you view quitting? Leave your thoughts below, super interested to hear!

The most important lesson I learnt when HIRING over 800 people in 5 years 🤯👇🏽

💡 Ability and experience prove to be LESS IMPORTANT than finding people who are genuinely kind, empathetic and positive.

💡 It's far easier to teach new skills than it is to unteach old toxic behaviours.

💡Character over capabilities, always.

Agree? What do you think? 👇🏽
The biggest risk of all.

Last week in the den was a pretty special one...

You guys got to see the incredible Zoe from Kiddiwhizz 👏🏽

Zoe is an amazing entrepreneur - I was quite honestly blown away by her determination and story.

A true example of how to turn life's bumps in the road into your strengths, your motivators and your superpowers.

What did you all think? Let me know!
Is this the most inspiring story in Dragon's Den history?

Yana Smaglo entered the Den last night and introduced herself as a Ukrainian refugee and her story really touched me.

Yana was a fashion designer with two fashion brands and three shops in Ukraine and then her home was invaded in 2022.

When the war broke out with Russia she said she awoke to the sound of bombs being dropped outside of her apartment in Kyiv and had 15 minutes to pack her things and flee.

When she arrived in the UK she told herself she's going to build a business that helps everyone in Ukraine by selling their products globally.

That fashion business is called Nenya Fashion

The business is designed to help Ukraine, because all of the stock is bought from manufactures in Ukraine, which helps to put money into the economy.

When she came to Dragon's Den to pitch, I really admired her story and wanted to do anything I could to help.

She's now moved to London and needed space for her stock so we invited her to work in our office full-time.

Her resilience is unlike anything I have ever seen so we wanted to give her the tools and opportunity to help her succeed with her business.

She joined us in the office in December and even in just a short space of time her presence has had such a big impact on my team.

We're so lucky to have her here and I can't wait to see her business take-off.

She's really an inspiration!

If you want to find out more about Nenya, I've commented a link to her website.

Let me know your thoughts after watching the episode on BBC iplayer now!

The law of attraction is nothing without the law of action.

Visualising your dreams and doing nothing about them is like putting on Google Maps in your car but refusing to turn the engine on.
