1๏ธโƒฃ. Recruiter reached out to me and I showed interest in interviewing over a call.

2๏ธโƒฃ. I had a screening round where I was asked 1 medium question with a follow-up, follow-up wasn't expected to be coded.

3๏ธโƒฃ. I had three coding rounds in onsite.

i. Two medium questions.
ii. One hard question.
iii. One hard question.

All the code was written in a Google doc and all rounds had deep discussion of time and space complexity, optimisation of current approach.

4๏ธโƒฃ. Googlyness round: I was asked situation based and project based questions for 45 minutes.

5๏ธโƒฃ. Team-matching: I was asked questions similar to googlyness round but it also had an introduction of the team.

6๏ธโƒฃ. Hiring committee: I was supposed to only give some data to recruiter in this stage

7๏ธโƒฃ. Result and offer.

The whole process took ~6 months.

๐Ÿ“My recruiter was my best friend in the process. She was super helpful and helped me with resources and feedback everytime.

๐Ÿ“Final thoughts:
๐Ÿ”นWhat contributed to my success was clarity of concepts of all Data structures and algos. I had seen no question that was asked earlier in any platform. ๐Ÿ™Œ
๐Ÿ”นHow you behave and talk in an interview matters a lot in your overall success.
๐Ÿ”นTime and space complexity has to be understood in depth.

After 6.5+ years in the industry, I still feel thereโ€™s so much left to learn about being a Software Engineer.

Many people do, Especially when it came to making a switch from Service โ†’ Product Company.

So, here are my top 5 Tips for professionals who want to switch to a Product-Based Company.

These are the things that hold great importance if you are targeting top PBCs in 2024

๐Ÿ‘‰A strong grasp of DSA & Understanding system design principles and being able to architect scalable and robust systems are key.

Practice designing systems for various real-world scenarios.

๐Ÿ‘‰Develop a portfolio of projects that demonstrate your skills. This could be through open-source contributions, personal projects, or participation in hackathons.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Regularly practice coding problems on platforms. This will help you get used to the types of problems you'll encounter in interviews.

โšก Research the companies you're interested in. Understand their products, services, and culture and focus on targeted preparation. All PBCs have their way of assessing candidates,

So, tailor your preparation to align with their specific methodologies and expectations.

๐Ÿค Connect with current or former employees of the company. Networking can provide insights and sometimes even referrals.

Transitioning to a product-based company can be a significant step in your career and for tailored guidance and comprehensive preparation for the same you can check Bosscoder Academy.

๐Ÿš€This the One DSA topic that keeps popping up in Interviews at MAANG.
Hereโ€™s how you can approach it! โฌ‡๏ธ
.
The Common Challenge โ†’ Detecting Cycles in a Graph

One of the most common graph problems youโ€™ll face in MAANG interviews while switching is detecting cycles. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

The problem asks you to find if a graph contains a cycle? a loop where you can start at a node, follow edges, and return to the same node.

Hereโ€™s how to Prroach it ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ”นDFS for Cycle Detection

โ“ Undirected Graphs โ†’ Use Depth-First Search to detect cycles by checking if a visited node is revisited without being the parent.
โ“Directed Graphs โ†’ Use DFS with a recursion stack. If a node is revisited while itโ€™s still in the stack, a cycle exists.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note : DSU can useful for undirected graphs, helps track and detect cycles by managing connected components.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Focus on regular practice with graph problems on Leetcode Understand traversal techniques (DFS/BFS), cycle detection, and pathfinding algorithms to handle interview challenges confidently.

For deeper learning, I recommend investing in quality resources to enhance your skills. Bosscoder Academy is a great option to consider.

โœ…Algorithms to know to ace a DSA interview:

1๏ธโƒฃ. Sorting Algorithms:Organize data into a specific order (ascending or descending). Examples include Bubble Sort, Merge Sort, and Quick Sort.
- Importance: Efficiently sorted data simplifies and speeds up many other operations like searching and merging.

2๏ธโƒฃ. Searching Algorithms: Locate specific elements within a dataset. Examples include Linear Search and Binary Search.
- Importance: Essential for retrieving information quickly from sorted and unsorted data structures.

3๏ธโƒฃ. Dynamic Programming: Breaks down problems into simpler subproblems and solves each subproblem once, storing the results for reuse. Examples include the Knapsack Problem and Longest Common Subsequence.
- Importance: Optimizes problems with overlapping subproblems and optimal substructure, reducing computational complexity.

4๏ธโƒฃ. Greedy Algorithms: Make locally optimal choices at each step with the hope of finding a global optimum. Examples include Activity Selection and Huffman Coding.
- Importance: Often leads to efficient solutions for optimization problems where a globally optimal solution can be constructed from local decisions.

5๏ธโƒฃ. Backtracking: Incrementally builds candidates for solutions and abandons those that fail to satisfy the constraints. Examples include the N-Queens Problem and Subset Sum Problem.
- Importance: Useful for solving constraint satisfaction problems and exploring all possible solutions in a systematic manner.

6๏ธโƒฃ. Divide and Conquer: Divides the problem into smaller subproblems, solves them independently, and combines their results. Examples include Merge Sort and Quick Sort.
- Importance: Simplifies complex problems by breaking them down, leading to efficient algorithms with good performance.

7๏ธโƒฃ. Graph Algorithms: Operate on graph data structures to solve problems related to paths, connectivity, and network flows. Examples include Dijkstraโ€™s Algorithm, BFS, and Kruskalโ€™s Algorithm.
- Importance: Essential for solving problems in network design, route optimization, and resource allocation.

I wouldnโ€™t have been a software engineer at Google at all.

Thanks to my spouse's encouragement, who pushed me to crack product-based companies.

And while on this journey, I realized the importance of โ€œSupport Systemโ€.

Trust me, itโ€™s easy to learn DSA Problem Solving. But the problem comes in maintaining โ€œconsistencyโ€.

And for that, 3 things help โ†’

โ–ถ Your determination to crack a product based company.
โ–ถ Guidance and support from the right person.
โ–ถ Structred method of preparation.

And all three are possible to gain, if youโ€™re willing to dedicate your time to them.

Dedicate some time to figure out โ€œWhy you want to crack product based companyโ€ and youโ€™ll become more dedicated.

Dedicate some time to reach out the software engineering mentors on Linkedin, and someone might be willing to help you out.

Dedicate some time to figure out what to prepare, search it online, and youโ€™ll structure out your prep.

And if dedicating time to all this is difficult for you, Iโ€™ll suggest you a resource made by industry veterans - Bosscoder Academy.

Theyโ€™ve helped 1000+ software engineers crack product based roles, you can prepare with them here - https://rebrand.ly/7epyfcs

They can provide you with โ†’

โœ… Highly structured curriculum to learn problem solving in DSA, System Design and Full Stack development.

โœ… Personal mentorship from veteran software engineers working in Google, Arcesium, Myntra etc.

โœ… Live classes taken by industry experts and regular mock interviews. Also, 24x7 doubt is provided too.

And after upskilling, dedicated placement support is provided, which helps line up interviews with product based companies.

The AI revolution has already made a lot of impact in fields like medicine, entertainment etc. and made a lot of things easier for mankind. โœŒ๏ธ

This is the time we use AI even for job search and accessing our skills..๐Ÿ’ฏ

I am amused by this app NextLevel by Unacademy. I read about it in a couple of posts and was intrigued. I tried the app and I am blown. ๐Ÿคฏ

This app makes the job search experience smooth and how. Along with 10's of other good things, this app helps you access your skills with an AI interview. It asks direct questions, multiple choices, flag the wrong line of code etc. and give you a badge based on your performance. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป

๐Ÿ“With this app:

1. You can select your area of interest, your pay expectations, YOE etc. It recommends jobs accordingly.
2. You can select the job that interests you with a swipe
3. Earn the badge by taking AI assessment
4. Your profile will have all information from email id to experience details which will act like your resume on the app
5.You get an inbox where you can msg others and can get msgs from people who want to hire you
And the list goes on...

I highly recommend this free app by Unacademy for job search. Download it now. Link: https://lnkd.in/gviuh6d3 โœŒ๏ธ

Rejection Ke Aage Jeet HaiโœŒ๐Ÿป

I vividly remember the feeling of disappointment when I was rejected in my interview before I finally landed my dream role.

Giving up was NEVER an option for me๐ŸŽฏ

I decided to double down on my efforts and kept pushing myself towards my goal.

-I focused on honing my system design and Data Structure and Algorithms concepts.

-I dedicated countless hours to solving problems and familiarizing myself with the types of questions that often come up during interviews.

- I also made it a point to go through past interview questions from the companies I was targeting.

- Mock interviews became an integral part of my preparation. I practiced extensively, reflected on my past mistakes, and made sure to correct them.

After months of relentless grind, I finally reached that pivotal moment when I cracked my SDE interviews. It was a moment of triumph, and I couldn't be prouder of the hard work I put in.

Two things were crucial in my journey: CONSISTENCY & MENTORS

So, if you're feeling disheartened by rejections, remember that they are merely stepping stones towards your ultimate victory. Also if you need help with mentorship, guidance, or interview prep, I suggest exploring Tutort Academy. Their instructors offer thorough training to give you the competitive advantage you're after.

Check out here-https://bit.ly/49elEaD

They've helped 1000+ students toward their dream careers by providing, the right career guidance that includes 1:1 mentorship, mock interviews, resume-building sessions, and more. You can be the NEXT ONE.

I can assure you, there's a world of possibilities waiting just beyond the walls of rejection.

๐Ÿ”น2nd is for long term help, to make the largest dev community.
๐Ÿ”น3rd is for making colleges in india more industry competent.

Proudly sharing these 3 initiatives by Rahul Maheshwari [Ex Er. google | adobe], which are looking to be the ones completely changing the ed-tech industry in CS/IT engineering! Do comment which one excites you the mostโ€ฆ

1๏ธโƒฃ ๐ˆ๐๐“๐„๐‘๐•๐ˆ๐„๐– ๐๐‘๐„๐๐€๐‘๐€๐“๐ˆ๐Ž๐

Bringing together engineers from tier-1 companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Cisco, Adobe, PayPal, JPMC and others, Rahul is starting a program with a job guarantee of minimum package of 15-LPA CTC [12-LPA in-hand]. While this looks like other programs, this is the only one where:
- Minimum package is disclosed.

- Thereโ€™s an opportunity to learn directly with engineers of tier-1 companies.

- Very restricted spots, to prepare every joiner in-depth.

- And completely revolutionized the fee structure, which in other ed-techs is lakhs per month, coming in at INR1500 per month. Which is a massive drop in his course fee too, for helping the current scenario.

- And looking at the biggest pool of engineers joining the initiative, achieving a 100% job target shouldnโ€™t be that hard.

- Target profiles: SDE | Data Analyst | AI/ML Engineer | DevOps Engineer

***Must check his latest post for this.

2๏ธโƒฃ ๐ˆ๐๐“๐„๐‘๐•๐ˆ๐„๐– ๐Ž๐๐„๐-๐’๐Ž๐”๐‘๐‚๐„๐ƒ

Now this is even bigger than the first announcement. Since thatโ€™s only a limited-enrollment batch, it will only be giving jobs to enrolled engineers, but this one will change things for everyone. Where work is already started on collecting all the interview requirements for:

- SDE
- DevOps/SRE
- AI/ML Engineers
- Data Analyst

And will be open-sourced on the open interview arena project in the next 9-months. The name for this project is yet to be announced, and is becoming the most awaited project by engineers.

3๏ธโƒฃ ๐‚๐Ž๐‹๐‹๐„๐†๐„ ๐‚๐Ž๐๐๐„๐‚๐“

This has already started with tours to multiple colleges, from Tier-3 colleges, to IITs, IIITs, Amity and others. Where students are meeting engineers from multiple Tier-1 companies along with Rahul, and are starting practical product implementationsโ€ฆ That are required in todayโ€™s IT industry. We just need to see more of this.

Now, hereโ€™s my take on thisโ€ฆ If you are looking for a job/job-switchโ€ฆ Do try, that you get enrollment in the current Interview Preparation group. The 1st one. Rahul Maheshwari has shared a lot about this in his latest linkedin post. Job security is a myth in the private sector.

We all know it deep down..๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Layoffs were an uncommon thing in the past,
but we all have seen it happening around us last 3 years.

Many people were unfortunate to experience it themselves, or see their friends/family or colleagues suffering.

We are responsible for our own security, therefore we should protect our income just like we insure other important aspects of life like health, vehicles etc. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Most people who are laid off don't have adequate savings or an emergency fund to be financially secure, pay off loans/ EMIs, and hence have to make a lot of compromises on their lifestyles.๐Ÿ˜

I want to share India's first income protection plan against layoffs Jobsurance. Even if you lose your job, you don't lose your income. With Jobsurance, you can continue to meet your financial commitments with peace of mind. ๐Ÿคฉ

They offer 3 months salary cover backed by insurers along with placement assistance to get people back on their feet quickly.๐Ÿฅณ
