Melinda’s new book, The #MomentofLift, is out today: https://b-gat.es/2URTmBh.

She combines her mastery of data with her ability to tell powerful stories. It was a lot of fun watching her write it, and I’m excited for all of you to read it.

There are many of you who need more followers.

It's simple.

Employee to HR: I am giving 2 weeks of notice. I want to move on.

HR: You know , we don't need you anymore. Today is your last day.

I have seen this many times. Too often when an employee resigns, and it seems the company has no use for them, they are treated poorly. You can pretty much tell the values of a company by how they treat 1. Jobseekers and 2. Those leaving. It's time to put back the “Human“ in Human Resources. 48 people got HIRED.
You could be the next !
Here is how.

Write a short post about yourself, or post CV/resume.
Use hashtag #oleg so I and my network of 1.7M can easily find it. We will give your post visibility. Or you can simply put a comment here- “interested“ and a like. In our network there are 250,000 recruiters !

48 is just the count of those who sent me happy inmails.

It works because there are so many people who want to help you. Because we know what it is like to get rejection after rejection after rejection.

Here is why we do it.

We really don't need a reason to help others. But if one needs a reason, it is this one. It just feels good !

When I made it my mission to help others, which I did purely by logic at the time, I became a much happier person.

Takers eat better, givers sleep better.

Kindness is the best strategy in life !

This is Warrick Dunn. His mom was a Baton Rouge police officer who was shot and killed while he was a senior in high school. He raised his 5 siblings while in college, graduated and went to the NFL. He built and paid for over 145 homes for single mothers, sacrificing millions of dollars so they could have better lives.

Attention CEOs:

I'm one of you. In 2015 I made 33x more than our lowest-paid employee.

I took a big pay cut & raised our minimum wage to $70k. Now our top exec makes 4x more than our lowest-paid employee.

In that span, our business tripled. Amazing what happy employees can do.
I quit my job for a lower-paying job. Although the pay was less in my new job, my new manager was great. I did not dread going to work everyday. A total contrast, to previously working for a toxic boss who micromanaged me. A bad boss can make your work life miserable. In the end, no amount of money can replace peace of mind, or having a supportive boss.

HIRING ? Some of my best employees have no degrees. Do not get me wrong, I value education. I just do not value decision making based on education levels.
I hired Joe. He had no degree. His parents did not have money to send him to a university. He stayed behind to work and put his younger sister through college. He was the best project manager I ever had.
I hired Mark, he had military experience, no degree. He was one of the best tech ops managers ever - stellar leadership, exemplary communication and execution.

Hire people, not education levels.
Education doesn't do no work. Real people do.

This is the hardest thing I've ever written on LinkedIn.

I was let go from my job earlier this year. The process of getting that job looked easy and like a dream. Everyone was high-fiving me when I got the gig.

It was my first leadership role in a long time.

Losing that job after only 7 months was embarrassing. That's why I didn't really tell anyone. I pretended I was still employed because the guilt of it was enormous.

I've never been let go before and it has been one of the toughest experiences I've ever gone through.

During this time, the one thing that kept me going is people.

- People introducing me to recruiters
- People inviting me to their tech events
- People sending me kind emails
- Former bosses spending the afternoon with me
- Mentors flying to Melbourne specially to catch up
- Free tickets to seminars that were an escape

I don't have all the answers and I fail too. But today I'm humble more than ever.

Thinking about the power of humanity and how it has helped me in this situation is the sort of idea that can bring tears to even the toughest persons eyes.

Don't let shame destroy you.

It's okay *not* to be always winning.

Job seekers and friends, something came up.
I should be back to LI soon, but if I am not back in 3 weeks, know this.
1. You are special. You have the potential. You are unique. You are great.
2. Life is too short not to pursue your dreams and passions. Life is too short to work for someone who does not appreciate your hard work and loyalty.
3. People who don't value you, don't deserve you. We all are creations of the Almighty. He does not make mistakes.
4. No matter how dark it gets, the sunrise is just around the corner. Keep faith.
5. Things are worth nothing. You can't take things to the other side, when your time comes. You can take your good deeds with you.
6. Your hard work, talent and persistence will pay off, I promise.
6. It has been an honour to write for you here on LinkedIn. I hope I will get that honour again.

3 things you don't do

1. Beg for anyone to stay in your life.

2. Beg anyone to respect you.

3. Beg for anyone's attention.

Because you know:

When you feel a need to prove yourself to someone, their inability to see your value says something about them, not you.

Right?
The biggest factor in whether you succeed or fail at work is... your boss. If your boss doesn't like you it's a losing battle. They can easily set you up to fail. If you worked under a bad boss you will truly understand this. A Good boss is better than a good company!

If you watched the Netflix series about my work, you might recall briefly seeing a tool that I rely on to test bold ideas.

It’s important enough that I decided to write a special blog post so everyone can understand it better. Can you guess what it is?
I am NOT an A-class student.

I had 47% in my final year project.

I failed a module in my Masters.

Heck, my highest score during my MSc was 67%. The rest were in the 50s! lol

I never won any award or got any recognition for academic accomplishments.

The most I got was satisfactory! lol

Yet, I completed a PhD at 28.

It’s not so much the PhD itself but the obstacles I had to overcome, hurdles I had to skip over, self-doubt, fear, loneliness, procrastination, heartbreak, depression, you name it...

If I can, you can. I am no genius, I just know how to keep going regardless.

Here is to the hard workers because hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

Things like “hustle”, work ethic, or networking are only potential gateways to fulfillment and happiness.

Ultimately… at the end of the day… this is one big game doing it YOUR way :) If you’re enjoying yourself and you’re not doing at anyone else’s expense, I’m so excited for you - regardless of how you get “there.”

Never do on INTERVIEWS these 6 things

Stopping these behaviors is essential !

1) Treating candidates with disrespect – respect goes both ways
2) Not giving the candidates breaks and water
3) Asking candidates personal questions – whatever question you ask, they should be allowed to ask back
4) Grilling them with questions – interview is a professional meeting, not an interrogation. As a meeting, it should be a dialog.
5) Treating candidates like doormats. You want to hire people to work WITH you, NOT FOR you. Partnership with guidance is the best form of leadership.
6) Telling candidates you will get back soon if it is not your intention. It is unprofessional, unkind and unbecoming not to get back.

Agree ?
❤ I pray you get and keep
1. A great job
2. A well deserved promotion
3. Health and happiness
4. Good news

If God is making you wait, prepare to receive more than what you asked for !
So many times, so many of us miss out on opportunities big and small because we are scared. It's pretty easy to think about all the things that could go wrong, and list all the reasons why not. We say things to ourselves like, “I'm not good enough, that's too hard, or I don’t have the money, the experience or the knowledge.” But what if we just thought about all things that could go right? What if instead we could focus on all the amazing things that can happen to us if we just had the courage to take the leap?

People ask me if I was scared when I started Spanx. Are you kidding? I was terrified. But the thought of my life staying the way it was was scarier to me than taking the risk. So if you're on the brink of making a big decision that you know in your heart is a good one, think about how your life will expand. It's always possible that you will fall or fail... but what if you fly? 💪 #Motivation #Inspiration #YouCanDoIt #Courage #Entrepreneur

Follow me NOT because I am amazing. I am very ordinary.
Follow me because I help job seekers. I built a network of 1.5 million followers to help people to have their voice heard.
Tag me when your post needs help, when you are going through tough times, when every door you knock on is locked.
I share job seekers posts with my network. The other day I put a like on a job seeker post. She had 0 likes. Now she has 700+. That's because not only I care, but because my followers care.
And frankly everyone here on LinkedIn should help job seekers.
