The most expensive career mistake:

Getting emotionally attached to your job.

After 6+ years in corporate I realised:

Companies don't love you back.

That's not an opinion. It's fact.

When you attach to companies:

→ They change direction, you lose focus
→ They cut budgets, you lose stability
→ They pivot strategy, you lose position

Instead, attach to purpose.

Here's how:

1/ Define Your Non-Negotiables

- Write down your core values
- List what truly matters to you
- Set your own success metrics

2/ Build Your Foundation

- Create a personal brand
- Own your skill development
- Network outside your company

3/ Play The Long Game

- Document your wins
- Build systems, not just skills
- Focus on market value, not job title

Because when you know your mission:

- Every job becomes a stepping stone
- Every role becomes a chapter
- Every setback becomes a lesson

Remember:

Your company has a backup plan.

Do you?

Start here:

→ Write your mission statement
→ List 3 skills you own (not rent)
→ Build one asset outside your job

The truth is:

Jobs are temporary.

Purpose is permanent.

Happy at work? These 8 phrases might be why.
The culture can make your job fulfilling or draining.

In a healthy culture, certain phrases stand out.

They reflect values like:

āžŸ TrustĀ
āžŸ GrowthĀ
āžŸ RespectĀ
āžŸ Recognition

When you hear these phrases, you feel valued.

You feel safe to share ideas and learn from mistakes.

You feel supported to collaborate and succeed.

These phrases create a positive environment.

One where people lift each other up.

A healthy workplace culture is powerful.

It starts with the words leaders choose.

Leaders, choose phrases that:

āžŸ Build trust
āžŸ Empower
āžŸ Inspire
āžŸ Unite

Words have the power to shape your team's success.

Use them wisely. Use them often.

And always be sincere.

Be the leader who brings out greatness.

P.S. What phrase would you add to the list?
I've seen ā€œleadersā€œ throw their team under the bus.

In front of coworkers.
In front of clients.
Without hesitation.

It made me realize something powerful:

If you don't defend your people,
you don't belong in leadership.

Period.

True leaders know:

āžŸ Your team's success is your success
āžŸ Their growth and achievements are your legacy
āžŸ Their trust is what makes you a leader, not your title

What does it mean to defend your team?

It's not about making excuses
or lowering your standards.

It's about:

āœ… Fighting for their growth
āœ… Protecting them from burnout
āœ… Shielding them from toxic politics
āœ… Offering support without micromanaging
āœ… Being their voice when they're not in the room

The best leader I ever had taught me this.

When our team made mistakes, she'd say:
ā€œThat's on me. We'll fix it.ā€œ

When we succeeded?
ā€œMy team did all the work. I just cleared the path.ā€œ

She held us to high standards.
Gave tough feedback when needed.
But always had our backs.

Know what happened?

We gave everything for that team.
Grew faster than ever.
Achieved things we never thought possible.

Because we knew she'd be there.
Supporting. Defending. Believing.

Remember:

Anyone can manage tasks.
Real leaders develop people.
And you can't develop what you don't defend.

So choose wisely.
Your team is watching.
And they'll never forget.

Honored to join Hon. PM Narendra Modi, President Emmanuel Macron, and global leaders at the CEO Forum with the backdrop of AI Action Summit—representing boAt Lifestyle, Make in India, and our startup ecosystem on the global stage šŸ‡®šŸ‡³šŸ™šŸ»

Here’s what I shared:

1. With over 100,000 startups, 100+ unicorns, and being the 3rd largest ecosystem globally, India is a powerhouse of innovation. It’s time to connect the dots globally

France should send its best minds to Startup Mahakumbh (April, Delhi), and India must show up at Viva Tech (June, Paris). We need more Founder-led partnerships in the future and France should also leverage programmes like Invest in India.

2. From Importing to Exporting Tech: There was a time when we relied on global giants for tech. Now, we MAKE and EXPORT tech, from boAt headphones to Apple iPhones.

Make in India is a reality. French companies can tap into this wave by partnering with Indian manufacturers, leveraging PLI/PMP schemes, and setting up joint facilities.

3. This forum goes beyond partnerships - it’s a call for tech businesses worldwide to drive meaningful solutions for tomorrow.

We’re building, innovating, and creating new possibilities for AI, Smart Manufacturing and tech.

And if there’s one thing I realized, it’s this: The world is watching India. But more importantly, the world wants to work with India

Jai Hind. The future is here, and it’s MADE IN INDIA šŸ”„

Namaste and Merci beaucoup šŸ‡®šŸ‡³šŸ¤šŸ‡«šŸ‡·

Success isn’t just skill.

It’s discipline.

10 things that require zero talent:

↳ Punctuality shows respect for others and yourself.
Ā Ā Ā Ā
Ā 2. Giving full effort
Ā Ā Ā Ā
    ↳ No shortcuts. No half-measures.
↳ If you’re going to do it, do it right.

Ā Ā Ā Ā
↳ Talent without discipline is wasted potential.
↳ The hardest worker wins in the long run.

Ā Ā Ā Ā
↳ Be the person others want on their team.
↳ Energy is contagious. Choose wisely.
Ā Ā Ā Ā
Ā 5. Staying prepared
Ā Ā Ā Ā
↳ Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.
↳ You'll raise to your level of preparation.
Ā Ā Ā Ā
Ā 6. Going beyond expectations
Ā Ā Ā Ā
↳ The bare minimum gets you nowhere.
↳ The extra mile has no traffic.
Ā Ā Ā Ā
Ā 7. Keeping an open mind
Ā Ā Ā Ā
↳ Be coachable. Feedback isn’t criticism, it’s growth.
↳ The moment you stop learning, you start declining.
Ā Ā Ā Ā
Ā 8. Showing professionalism
Ā Ā Ā Ā
↳ Your attitude is your business card.
↳ The way you do anything is the way you do everything.
Ā Ā Ā Ā
Ā 9. Maintaining strong body language
Ā Ā Ā Ā

10. Being kind
Ā Ā Ā Ā
↳ Tough and kind aren’t opposites.
↳ Long-term success is built on relationships.
Ā Ā Ā Ā

You don’t need talent to master these.

Just discipline and a decision.

NO WAY!!! My candidate had a 5 year GAP in her resume. After she interviewed with the client: The feedback I got from them was very disappointing. ā€œYour applicant presented herself very well and seems qualified, but 5 years OFF is a long time, we can’t take that RISK.ā€œ

ā€œOFFā€? She had taken the ā€œbreakā€ to be a stay-at-home mom when her first child was born. In addition, she was assisting her aging parents. She did not hide this on her resume. She wrote ā€œprofessional sabbatical to care of my family.ā€œ

AND she explained all of this during the job interview.

ā€œRISKā€? This is an excellent candidate who kept her skills up to date. Yet all my client could see was the gap. A gap in employment history should not discount someone’s abilities.

Shouldn't a GAP in employment be expected at some point in one's career? If a candidate has the right skills and attitude to do the job, shouldn’t that be enough?
Imposter syndrome will kill your career.

Here's what nobody wants to tell you:

-> It never goes away

People try fight it:
↳ Hiding in their comfort zone
↳ Looking for external validation
↳ Pretending to know everything

šŸ”“ It doesn't work.

🟢 Here's what to do instead:

1/ Reframe
↳ ā€œI'm not qualifiedā€œ -> ā€œI'm learningā€œ

2/ Love discomfort
↳ Take on challenges that are feasible, but stretch you

3/ Seek feedback
↳ Actively looking for feedback builds your confidence

4/ Be open about not knowing things
↳ Say ā€œI don't knowā€œ to build your credibility

5/ Own your success criteria
↳ Don't live your life to someone else's standards

Confidence is a result of action.
Don't let the imposter syndrome stop you from starting.

At Microsoft, I once joined a war room at 2 AM. The VP of Azure was sharing his Visual Studio screen. Debugging. Deep in the weeds.

He managed 21,000 engineers and delivered $40B in revenue.

But that night? He wasn’t a VP. He was an engineer.

Here's what I learned:

When things are on fire, great leaders don’t sit back.

They lead from the front.

They get their hands dirty.
They push forward.
They unblock.

But when it’s time to develop products?

They lead from the back.

They empower teams.
They clear blockers.
They let experts be experts.

Most people get this backward.

They micromanage the creative process—then vanish when things break.

But the best leaders are invisible when things go right, present when they go wrong.

Next time your fingers itch to step in, ask yourself:

Are you leading from the front or just getting in the way?

The real reason people quit their jobs might surprise you.

It's not always about the work itself.

It's about who you work for.

Here are the qualities to look out for:

āœ… Leads by example
āœ… Opens career doors
āœ… Develops you as a leader
āœ… Recognises and rewards you
āœ… Inspires you to stretch higher
āœ… Defends you when we need it
āœ… Tells you that your work matters
āœ… Forgives you when you make mistakes
āœ… Provides you with a safe space to grow

Let’s be clear:

You’re not running a day care. You’ve hired skilled professionals, not children.

So why waste your time clock-watching and breathing down their necks?

Your role isn’t to micromanage - it’s to lead.

Set the vision, clear the obstacles, and trust your team to get on with it.

Focus on outcomes, not attendance.

The real question isn’t ā€œWere they at their desk?ā€ but ā€œDid they deliver?ā€

Here’s the hard truth:

Micromanagement kills creativity and drives talent out the door.

No one thrives in an environment where they’re constantly questioned.

Real leaders empower their teams to take ownership and excel.

If you don’t trust the people you’ve hired, that’s not their failing - it’s yours.

Leadership isn’t about control; it’s about creating space for your team to flourish.

Stop obsessing over the clock, and start measuring what actually matters. Results.

Trust them. Empower them. Step back. You’ll be surprised by what they achieve.

Do you know what a domino effect is?Ā

That’s what happens when you hurt even one employee.Ā

You snap at an employee during a meeting.Ā

It seems small, a single comment, a moment of frustration.Ā Ā
But the impact ripples through the team.Ā

Other employees notice.Ā Ā
They exchange glances, whispers start, and trust begins to fray.Ā

Rumours spread quickly in any workplace.Ā

And those who are watching, your best performers, start asking questions.Ā

ā€œIs this how I’ll be treated one day?ā€Ā Ā
ā€œDo I really want to stay here?ā€Ā

Even the employees who don’t leave feel the shift.Ā

- They might stay in their roles, but their mindset shifts.Ā Ā
- They lose respect for their leader.Ā Ā
- Their motivation takes a blow.Ā Ā
- Productivity drops.Ā

They no longer feel driven to give their best.Ā

Leadership is about more than just delivering results.Ā Ā
It’s about creating an environment where people feel valued, respected, and inspired.Ā

Otherwise, it’s only a matter of time before engagement fizzles out.Ā Ā
And eventually, people start to leave.Ā

Every action, every word as a leader, sets the tone.Ā

Are you building a culture of trust and respect?Ā Ā
Or are you slowly losing your team, one moment at a time?Ā

CTC vs. Take-Home Salary: The Reality Check! 🚨

A high CTC doesn’t always mean a fat paycheck. Many professionals assume:
šŸ’° 10 LPA = ₹83,333/month, but in reality, it’s closer to ₹70,500
šŸ’° 50 LPA ≠ 5x your take-home, it’s around ₹2,80,917 (only ~4x!)

As your salary grows, so do the deductions:
šŸ”¹ Taxes (5-20%)
šŸ”¹ Benefits & deductions (PF, insurance, ESOPs, etc.)
šŸ”¹ Variable pay (which isn’t always guaranteed)

The harsh truth? You often take home just 50-60% of your CTC—and the higher your salary, the bigger this gap gets!

So, what’s the solution?
A salary alone won’t lead to financial freedom. You need to:
āœ… Build passive income – Invest in stocks, real estate, or side businesses.
āœ… Develop high-value skills – Look for skills that don’t trade time for money (e.g., consulting, automation, trading).
āœ… Monetize your expertise – Many top professionals transition into consulting or entrepreneurship.
āœ… Be financially smart – Plan, invest, and budget wisely to grow your wealth beyond a paycheck.

šŸ’” Bottom line: A job is just the beginning. True financial independence comes from multiple income streams and making money work for you.

Have you explored income sources beyond your salary? Let’s discuss! ā¬‡ļø

The word ā€œimmigrantā€ gets a bad wrap.

The word ā€œimmigrantā€ gets a bad wrap.

My Dad moved to the UK from Pakistan at 12 years old.
He hardly knew any English.

But he adapted and thrived.

From passing all of his exams at school.
To protecting NHS hospitals from cyber attacks today.

Resilience & determination > perfect language skills.

Interviewers, you need to be more inclusive.

Especially when candidates don't speak perfect English.

Here's how:

1ļøāƒ£ Slow Down & Simplify Your Speech
→ Avoid overly complex language.
→ Be aware of your pacing and accent.

2ļøāƒ£ Be Patient
→ Silence and pauses are okay.
→ Allow candidates time to think before they answer.

3ļøāƒ£ Ask Open-Ended Questions
→ Let them share experiences in their own words
→ Don't focus solely on technical jargon.

Job seekers, if English isn’t your first language...

Here’s how to build confidence in interviews:

1ļøāƒ£ Practice, Practise, Practise
→ Record interview questions & answers outloud.
→ Listen to yourself and ask others to review.

2ļøāƒ£ Emphasise Your Strengths
→ Knowing languages is a strength, not a weakness.
→ Adaptability, resilience, cultural competence & more!

3ļøāƒ£ Don’t Apologise
→ Be proud of your English.
→ Focus on what you can bring to the role.

The next time you hear someone speaking ā€œbrokenā€ English.

Check your privilege.

Remember they’re likely speaking in their second, third, or even fourth language.

That’s not a weakness.
It’s a skill.

Cut them some slack.
Appreciate the effort.

By 2030, we’ll see 170 million jobs created — and 92 million jobs lost.
39% of current skills will be outdated.
And 59% of workers will need reskilling — but 1 in 5 may not get it.

According to the new Future of Jobs 2025 report from the World Economic Forum, AI and information processing tech are expected to transform 86% of businesses — more than any other technology.

We’re not in a ā€œfuture of workā€ moment anymore.
We’re in a present of rapid transformation — and AI is at the center of it.

These aren’t just stats.
They’re a snapshot of the pressure — and potential — we’re all navigating.

šŸ’” The AI-native workforce isn’t just technical.
Yes, AI and big data top the list of fastest-growing skills.
But so do:

šŸ”¹Ā Resilience & agility
šŸ”¹Ā Creative thinking
šŸ”¹Ā Curiosity & lifelong learning
šŸ”¹Ā Leadership & influence
šŸ”¹Ā Systems thinking

The world doesn’t just need more AI experts.
It needs more adaptive leaders who can think with AI — strategically, creatively, and ethically.

That’s the mindset we’re helping build in our Executive AI course — for leaders who want to stay ahead of the curve, not chase it.

I messed up big time.

My heart sank as I watched Sarah, my star employee, walk out the door for the last time, some 10 years ago.

I thought I was a good boss. I was wrong.

Did you know 69% of people aren't excited about their job?Ā
(That's like 7 out of 10 of your friends hating Mondays!)

Why? Because bosses like me did not listen.

We controlled too much.

We didn't let people grow.

But I learned.

And now I'm sharing what works:

→ Give people big jobs to do. Trust them.
→ Share the glory when things go well.
→ Let everyone speak up. Listen hard.
→ Cheer for wins - even small ones!
→ Let them be the boss sometimes.
→ Help them learn new stuff.
→ Don't just nod and forget.
→ Use their ideas.

It's not just for work.

Everyone, this is for you too!

Let your kids try new things (safely).Ā
Let them grow.

I wish I knew this earlier.Ā
Sarah might still be here.

But it's not too late for you. šŸ’š

What will you do today to make someone feel valued?

My new employee asked me one day for time off. I immediately approved it. She was shocked and asked, ā€œDon’t you want to know the reason why?ā€ My reply was, ā€œI don't need to know the details. I hired you to get the job done and I trust you to get it done.ā€

You choose how to get your work done. Come to the office fine. 9 to 5? Fine. Work from home. Fine. Leave early. Fine. Work from the garage while they fix your car? Fine.

We are all human. I don't need to know you will be late because of a doctor's appointment, or you are leaving early to attend a personal matter.

It's sad how we have infantilized the workplace so much, that employees feel the need to apologize for having personal lives. I am not a clock watcher. I trust you to get your job done. Keep clients happy. I am happy.
The linear career path is dead.

Strategic pivots are the new normal.

Today’s workforce is more dynamic than ever.

Gen-Z is leading the way.

The average tenure per role?
1.7 years.

52% of US workers have considered a career change since the pandemic.

Yet so many people feel stuck:

- They worry about taking a step back.
- They hesitate due to the sunk-cost fallacy.

But strategic career pivots bring the best rewards:

āž”ļø Faster Salary Growth
āž”ļø Better Work-Life Balance
āž”ļø More Exciting Projects
āž”ļø Larger Network & New Opportunities
āž”ļø Stronger Skill Set & Career Resilience

I’ve pivoted multiple times.
Each brought new skills, more money & growth.

Want To Pivot Strategically?
Here’s Your 6 Step Framework:

1ļøāƒ£ Leverage Your Network For Referrals
↳ The job you want may not be advertised right now.
↳ Speak to people in the roles you’re aiming for.

2ļøāƒ£ Research Roles & Industries Thoroughly
↳ Study market trends, companies & in-demand skills.
↳ Align to the company strategy & values.

3ļøāƒ£ Upskill To Plug Skills Gaps
↳ Identify the gaps and fill it proactively.
↳ Take online courses, workshops or certifications.

(BONUS: shadow people & start a side hustle to practise the skills)

4ļøāƒ£ Focus On Transferable Skills
↳ Identify cross-over strengths from past roles.
↳ i.e. leadership, problem-solving, adaptability.

5ļøāƒ£ Tell Your Unique Story
↳ Your skill stack makes you unique.
↳ Show how journey brings new perspective & value.

6ļøāƒ£ Focus On Impact & Results
↳ Companies don’t just hire for skills - they hire results.
↳ Frame your experience for outcomes & impact.

Careers aren’t one-size-fits-all anymore.

Don’t stay stuck.
Your next move could be the best one yet.

Strategic pivoting is the new norm

Announcing: Agentic Document Extraction!

PDF files represent information visually - via layout, charts, graphs, etc. - and are more than just text. Unlike traditional OCR and most PDF-to-text approaches, which focus on extracting the text, an agentic approach lets us break a document down into components and reason about them, resulting in more accurate extraction of the underlying meaning for RAG and other applications. Watch the video for details.
Bullies aren’t just on the playground

They’re in your offices too.

Rob Dance could not be more right!

Workplace bullying is real, and it doesn’t always look obvious.

It can show up in subtle ways that erode team morale, break down trust and impact wellbeing.

Workplace bullies will:

→ Undermine others' work
→ Take credit for team efforts
→ Spread negativity or gossip
→ Use intimidation to silence voices
→ Withhold information that others need to succeed

The impact?

Good people become disengaged and the workplace becomes a toxic environment.

So how do we deal with it?

→ Call it out – Address bullying behaviours directly and clearly; don’t let them slide.

→ Create safe spaces – Encourage open conversations where everyone feels heard and respected.

→ Lead by example – Model respect, transparency and fairness in your interactions.

→ Offer support – Provide resources for those impacted and make sure they know they’re not alone.

A positive, respectful workplace DOESN’T tolerate bullies, no matter how subtle their tactics.

It’s up to all of us to stand up, support each other and create a culture where everyone can thrive.

P.S. How do you deal with workplace bullying?

When a passionate team member walks out the door, you're losing more than just their skill set.

You're losing their creative spark and all their long-term contributions that can't be replaced with a new hire.

Many companies don't consider this hidden cost.

They see turnover as a line item instead of looking at the greater impact.

Yes, you can fill a vacancy, but how do you replace the genuine belief in your mission and the drive to make your company the best it can be?

Passion isn’t just a ā€˜nice-to-have’; it’s something you absolutely need.

Treat your employees like they can be replaced and don’t be surprised when your top talent finds a company that actually appreciates them.

Leaving after 1-2 years isn’t ā€œjob hoppingā€ā€”it’s doing what’s right for you.

You don’t have to:

- Stay in a toxic work environment
- Sacrifice your work-life balance
- Settle for less pay than you deserve
- Deal with a boss who doesn’t lead
- Stay at a job that doesn’t help you grow

This isn’t ā€œjob hoppingā€ā€”it’s knowing your worth and moving forward.

If you leave that quickly, it reflects more on the company than it does on you.

Don’t judge a jobseeker without understanding the full story.

So many British entrepreneurs are leaving the UK…

The numbers are insane:

Last year, the UK lost 10,800 millionaires.

And it’s not just for tax reasons or red-tape… it’s the entire British attitude towards success.

When my business started making good money… A friend I'd known for eight years literally went out of his way to message me saying we couldn't be friends anymore.

I asked him why and he said we had ā€œnothing in commonā€ because I'd become successful.

And so you have American founders that are celebrated, but UK entrepreneurs are constantly attacked.

Because we've created a system that punishes success:

- Super high taxes that crush growth
- Bureaucracy and regulations that strangle any innovative ideas
- A culture that sees wealth as something to apologize for

And the result is our best talent is leaving for the US or Dubai.

I honestly think London might be the world's greatest city… but we're losing our entrepreneurs because we've created a system that celebrates putting ourselves down.

I've hired 2000+ people in my career.

There’s one thing I look for above all else…

People who make things easier, not harder.

Here’s how they do it:

1. Make others look good
↳ Lifts the team’s performance
↳ Builds trust and goodwill effortlessly

2. No drama
↳ Cool, calm, and collected
↳ Maintains composure during challenges

3. Growth mindset
↳ Believes in the power of ā€œYetā€
↳ As in, I may not know how to do this… ā€œYetā€.

4. No ego
↳ Opens doors to learning
↳ Strengthens relationships

5. Relentlessly reliable
↳ Builds credibility
↳ Shows you can be counted on

6. Empathetic
↳ Creates deeper connections
↳ Enhances team cohesion

7. Gets the job done
↳ High degree of determination
↳ Creates a path forward, even if unclear

Across all the businesses I’ve built to date,
the standout performers had these traits in common.

Simple habits that deliver real impact over time.

And the surprising truth?

Most people overlook them.

In a world of unexpected events,
and sudden twists and turns,
the people who makes things easier
are the true diamonds in the rough.

Focus on these traits.
Develop them over time.
They will pay you back forever.

What’s one undervalued skill you think
deserves more recognition?

Hiring for experience is outdated,

And it’s costing you.

Rob Dance's quote is spot on!

How many incredible candidates are passed over because they don’t check every box?

How many interviews are wasted on people who look perfect on paper… but lack attitude and passion?

The truth is:

Most jobs can be taught.

But drive, mindset, and energy? You can’t fake that.

Here’s where hiring often goes wrong:

1. Job descriptions = wish lists.
Focus on what really matters, not just buzzwords.

2. Experience > Potential.
The right mindset beats years of rigid experience

3. Culture fit is misunderstood.
It’s not about hiring people you like, but people who add to your culture.

4. Slow processes lose great talent.
The best people won’t wait around during a drawn out process.

Hiring isn’t a checklist, it’s a strategy.

So ask yourself:

Are you hiring for the resume, or are you hiring for the person?

Hiring for experience is PLAYING IT SAFE.

It’s choosing predictability over possibility.

It’s assuming that because someone has done something before, they’ll do it better than the person who hasn’t.

But here’s the truth - 99% of jobs can be learned.

What actually moves companies forward isn’t past experience; it’s the ability to adapt, to think, to figure things out.

The problem with hiring only for experience is that it prioritises repetition over reinvention.

It stacks teams with people trained in how things have been done, instead of people hungry to figure out how things should be done.

Experience isn’t useless, but it should be used strategically - to guide, to mentor, to help avoid common mistakes.

Not to dictate who gets a shot.

The best teams aren’t built on who’s done it before.

They’re built on who’s willing to do what hasn’t been done yet. If you’re hiring just to repeat the past, you’re already behind.

Back in the ’90s, starting or running a business in India was a different ballgame.

It was the era of simple beginnings. Whether it was running a restaurant, opening a retail store, or even trying to establish a brand, the rules of the game were basic.

My Dad knew his regular customers by name. They trusted him to serve food that was fresh, tasty and affordable. It was all about relationships.

Because the hygiene, service and quality of the food spoke for themselves at Dad’s restaurants, customers kept returning, and they brought others along too.

Word of mouth was king. No one ever really advertised. Advertising was limited to some of the top FMCG brands who ran a few TVCs, a few hoardings and some print ads.

When I started my retail venture, Mischief, everything about building a brand was grounded in face to face interactions. Both, with clients and suppliers.

We didn’t have google, social media or data to tell us about the trends or what customers liked.

We basically observed, listened and relied on instincts. Sometimes you succeeded, other times you failed.

However, the feedback loop as we now call it, was immediate and personal. Fast forward to today, and it’s an entirely new world.

India’s young population, the spread of technology and the explosion of social media have completely changed how businesses are built and run.

Success today doesn’t just depend on what you offer. It’s about how you present it, who’s talking about it online and how well you can connect with your audience digitally.

Gone are the days when consistency alone was enough. Now, consumers expect innovation and an experience that’s tailored to them. They want brands that understand their values and stand for something.

Take retail, for example. Back in the day, footfall in the store meant everything. Today, a customer may never walk into your store at all. E-commerce has made convenience the priority.

And your reputation? It’s built not just through word of mouth but through reviews and ratings left by consumers on the internet!

Restaurants, too, have evolved. The local joints still exist, but now they’re competing with cloud kitchens and apps delivering anything you like to your doorstep.

The movie business has evolved too. Its life may begin at the box office but extends to OTT platforms, social media buzz and streaming algorithms.

These shifts, though challenging, are exciting. I truly enjoy having so much to learn about!

It means entrepreneurs in India today have more tools, more platforms and a far bigger market to tap into. But it also means they need to be more focused than ever.

As an old timer, I still feel like while technology and trends will always evolve, the essence of doing business remains the same. It will always be critical to offer value, build trust and being consistent.

And despite all these changes in the landscape, the fundamentals of a connection, whether through a handshake or a push notification, will remain timeless.

How to get professional headshots with ChatGPT.

1. Upload 3 simple photos of you.
2. Make sure it has different angles.
3. Copy & paste the following prompt:

No need for expensive photographers or fancy setups.

So how to (actually) use ChatGPT 4.5 for headshots?

1. Take a few clear photos from different angles.
2. Upload them to ChatGPT 4.5.
3. Upload it on ChatGPT, with the following prompt:

ā€œGenerate the corporate headshot of this personā€œ

And this is absolutely wild.

If you know someone who needs a new LinkedIn photo, get them on board.

AI is revolutionizing professional photography. Real fast.

The world is changing fast, and young men are searching for direction.

For too long, the loudest voices have sold them a toxic version of masculinity—one built on empty status, resentment, and noise.

But the tide is turning ↓

For too long now, young men have been given the wrong blueprint.

They see influencers with no real accomplishments preaching about ā€œsuccess.ā€œ Meanwhile, the guys actually winning—in business and in life—have been pushed to the back of the room.

That has to change.

We need a new definition of masculinity—one built on excellence and greatness. Not just in our work. Not just in our bank accounts.

But in our relationships. In our families. In how we show up as men.

That a huge part of why I started #BusinessDad.

To spotlight men who are at the top of their game and showing up for their families. Because success isn’t just about what you achieve professionally. It’s about what you build at home, too.

The good news? The shift is already happening.

The pendulum swung too far toward incel culture. Now, more men are speaking up—showing that strength isn't just about who's the loudest. It's also about leadership, responsibility, and growth.

Men now have an opportunity to really step up.

Let's be the role models. Let's have the positive vision. Because success isn’t just abt $$. It’s about building something bigger than yourself.

That’s what real masculinity looks like. And it’s time we make it the norm again.

I've stopped hiring because of someone's CV, smarts and experience and I'm now hiring for attitude & learning speed. AI is changing everything šŸ‘‡šŸ¾

AI is rewriting the rules in almost every industry I've built businesses in.

I've noticed that the half-life of specific skills keeps shrinking.

What took three years to master now takes three months.

What took three months now takes three days.

The person who spent a decade becoming an expert in something AI can now do instantly isn't necessarily more valuable than someone who can learn to use that AI effectively by next week.

It's playing out in real time across our companies.

Which means the old signals, degrees, years of experience, prestigious company names, matter less than they ever have...

Not because they're worthless, but because they measure the wrong thing.

They measure what you knew. What matters now is how quickly you can learn what you don't!

Last week I flew a young lady called Zara Jarvis 24-hours across the planet because our culture test showed something a CV never could: exceptional attitude and learning velocity.

She spent four days embedded with my team. Not interviewing. Working. Taking feedback, iterating, asking better questions each day.

She was brilliant.

And so she was offered a role with an intentionally broad title because the job will evolve as the world does.

And I guess this is the whole point...

Flexibility has become the ultimate attribute.

Which is the genuine capacity to have your knowledge made obsolete and rebuilt, repeatedly, without losing momentum or resisting change.

We're hiring hundreds of people right now. C-suite internationally, junior roles across the businesses.

The key requirements to join us are: a positive attitude towards change, hard work, and the ability to learn very, very fast.

If that's you, and you want to do something terrifyingly ambitious, come and join us!

Drop me an email at work@stevenbartlett.com (please make the subject of the email your dream job title) and I'll send you a quick culturetest to complete!

If the test shows that we are aligned, I'll personally email you within 24 hours (not my team - I will personally be in touch with you - like I personally whatsapp'd Zara Jarvis when she performed well on the test).

ALSO... if you know someone exceptional who might be looking for their next role - please send them this post or tag them! Me and them might thank you for that one day ā¤ļø

The best leaders aren’t just tough.

They’re kind.

Kindness isn’t about being soft.
It’s about being strong enough to do what’s right,
even when it’s hard.

It’s about saying the tough truth, but with care.
Setting boundaries, but with respect.
Leading with impact, but with heart.

If you want trust, loyalty,
and long-term success,
kindness isn’t optional.
It’s essential.

3 Leadership lessons on kindness that actually work:

1/ Kindness takes courage.
↳ Say the hard truth, but with care.
↳ Weak leaders sugarcoat or avoid conflict. Strong leaders are honest, even when it’s uncomfortable.

2/ Kindness needs boundaries.
↳ Protect your time, energy, and standards.
↳ Being kind doesn’t mean being a pushover. Respect yourself first and others will follow.

3/ Kindness creates connection.
↳ Small, consistent acts of care build trust.
↳ A single grand gesture won’t make you a great leader. Showing up, again and again, will.

Kindness isn’t extra,
it’s the foundation of real leadership.

The question isn’t if kindness belongs in leadership.

The question is:
How will you lead with kindness today?

We hit 10 million subscribers today… so I wanted to share something unexpected that this process has taught me: one of the unforeseen consequences of interviewing around 400 people on The Diary of a CEO is the clear realisation of how important it is to be kind to strangers online.

I’ve interviewed some of the most impressive, seemingly flawless, successful, and famous people on the planet - CEOs, athletes, scientists, authors - and every single one of them is battling something beneath the surface.

In fact, I don't know a single person in my life who isn't struggling with something.

The most successful person I know is dealing with mental health issues - and so is my unemployed best friend from school.

I know someone you'd consider the life of any party who's privately been mentally crippled for years because of his child's illness.

The most beautiful person I know attends hypnotherapy because of crippling insecurity and body dysmorphia.

Last week, I spoke to a start-up founder who recently appeared on a magazine cover - he’s still in therapy for depression.

The internet flattens humans into two dimensions, but when you spend thousands of hours interviewing strangers, you come to learn that everyone is three-dimensional, and that third dimension is invisible.

I say all of this to say...

Give strangers the benefit of the doubt; look for the good in them.

Your words can either leave lasting scars or make someone's day.

Both options are free, but the world desperately needs more of the latter, and less of the former.

Anyway...

Thank you to all of you for the support and encouragement for the last 4 years, It's spurred me and my team on in ways you'll probably never know.

What started as a passion project in my bedroom in Manchester called The Diary Of A CEO, has evolved into a media company called FLIGHTSTORY which has employed hundreds of people around the world.

We're having so much fun, pushing ourselves really hard and we know we are only just getting started! ā¤ļø

Everyone needs to hear this:

You can be excellent at your job… and still be managed out unfairly.

Reno Perry’s quote needs to be heard!!

Not because of poor performance.

But because you spoke up. Because you didn’t play the game. Because someone decided you were a ā€œproblemā€.

It starts subtly:
→ Fewer invites to key meetings, then none at all
→ Shifting expectations with no clarity
→ Feedback that’s suddenly cold or worse, non-existant

It’s not in your head. It’s a strategy.

And it’s cruel.

But here’s what they don’t tell you:

You still have rights. You still have options. And you’re not alone.

Here’s what to do if this is happening to YOU:

1. Document EVERYTHING
→ Conversations, changes to your role, emails. Keep your receipts.

2. Get clarity in writing
→ Vague goals and shifting targets? Ask for written objectives. They owe you that.

3. Know your rights
→ Your contract, HR policies, ACAS if you’re in the UK — arm yourself with knowledge.

4. Talk to someone

5.Protect your peace
→ This is emotional warfare. Talk to people you trust. Look after your mental health.

Remember: You didn’t fail. You were failed.

Don’t let their silence or spin define your story.

P.S. Have you ever been managed out unfairly? What helped you take back control?

Leaving my teammates on the pitch is always heartbreaking in every way. That said, I am incredibly proud of what we achieved in Dublin, which helps ease the pain a little.
I'm thinking warmly of all my teammates, both on the French Team and at Toulouse, as the most important games loom on the horizon. I’ll be their biggest supporter!
Now, a new battle begins for me. I can’t wait to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. See you all in a few months! šŸ’ŖšŸ»

Fun breakfast with Yann LeCun. We chatted about open science and open source (grateful for his tireless advocacy of these for decades), JEPA and where AI research and models might go next!.

Hire based on character, not just skill.

Skills can be taught, but character is who they are.

You'll regret hiring the person whose resume is overflowing with skills,

But who:
↳Lacks integrity
↳Can't take feedback
↳Doesn't collaborate
↳Thinks they know it all

Instead, take a chance on the person who:
↳Has a great attitude
↳Is reliable
↳Works hard
↳Is resilient

You'll be glad you did.

They'll pick up the skills quickly,

They'll thrive long-term,

And they'll make the lives of everyone on their team better.

Including yours.

When you hire someone, you don't get their resume -

You get them.

So choose people with strong character,
And train them on the rest.

Agree?
